Vilano Beach began to become popular in the 1920's
when the first wooden bridge was built. The first real estate boom happened
at that time when developer August Heckshire saw potential for the beautiful
beaches at Vilano beach. He built Vilanos first Bridge, a wooden
structure that lasted until end of the second world war. Today a modern high
rise bridge services the Vilano beach area.
The early days the real estate development
consisted of mainly beach homes and fishing cottages along the Atlantic
ocean and the intracoastal waterway. Today there are more permanent homes,
condos. and commercial properties have been constructed.
